"Chiaroscuro" is a student film, expanding on an imagined situation presented by a painting. How did women's voices and work become lost? Where did the hidden multitudes end up? What kinds of environments, personal relationships and social limitations caused women's potential to be quashed, and what does this mean for young women now, learning in retrospect that history has hidden their predecessors in obscurity?

Although this student project has become defined by it's restrictions (the facilities many limitations - one day to construct and disassemble the set, prepare the actors, and shoot the footage whilst facing numerous audio issues), the ambition of the project shines through.
